Introduction to Creative Nonfiction - Adult

6 weeks / $200

A Creative Nonfiction writing workshop designed to introduce students to creative nonfiction with weekly readings and writing prompts. In this course we do not do group workshop, but on the 4th week I will collect and respond to one essay.

90-minute sessions.
[Minimum class size of 4, maximum 10]

Advanced Creative Nonfiction Workshop

This class is intended for those who have prior creative nonfiction writing experience. Students will conduct at least one workshop every class of each other’s work. In addition to daily workshop, we will read and discuss published works and do in-class writing exercises. I will respond in depth to each workshopped piece as well as any additional pieces given to me.

2-hour sessions
$300
[Minimum class size of 4, maximum 10]

Nature Journaling - Ages 12+

Spending time in nature is always valuable, but learning to sit in nature and study its form deepens the experience. The practice of recording these experiences teaches not only patience but also the value of honoring our natural spaces. During this one-day class, we will make journals, talk about the value of journaling our experience in nature, and practice drawing, followed by a nature walk at Sullivan Park. I will be able to provide transportation for up to 4 students, but parental transport is preferred.

90 minutes
1 day - $35
[Minimum class size of 6, maximum 12]

Comics and Zines

Nothing feels more powerful than building your own little book! In this class, we will learn the history of zines, learn basic zine-making techniques and build our own. Zines have a history in revolutions of all kinds, and in some cases their content can be inappropriate for certain ages. Therefore, I’d like to offer this class to an adult audience as well as a youth audience.

90 minutes
1 day - $35
[Minimum class size of 6, maximum 12]

Individual Classes

Build your own! Are you writing a novel? Researching family history and wanting to write a book? Realizing that your professional writing skills are limited and want to practice with some guidance? Reach out and we can discuss some options.

College Application Assistance

Let’s get you or your child into the college of your dreams. With one-on-one guidance, I can help craft your application essays into exactly what your college is looking for. I’ll typically charge $35/session, but if this is not possible for your family please reach out anyway. I would love to help interested young people reach their potential through a college education.
